This is a first attempt to collect and organize hundreds of pictures of the Holy Land - photos and paintings on postcards and black-white travel book photos - into one visual story, namely the "19th Century Holy
Land Pilgrimage".

I, myself, am an electronics engineer whose hobby is the study of the history of 19th and early 20th history Palestine, particularly the story of the settlement of the German Templers during the second half of the 19th century. This led to the discovery and study of a small tourist album issued in color by the Templer brothers Imberger of Jerusalem, which was exhibited in large scale pictures in the Tel-Aviv Eretz-Israel Museum (2004) and an edition of color facsimile published by the Yad Ben Zvi Press of Jerusalem.

Later on, I began collecting postcards of the Holy Land painted by Orientalists who had visited and recorded the landscapes and people of the Holy Land. This unique collection was recapitulated in another exhibit in the Tel-Aviv Eretz-Israel Museum in 2008 and was accompanied by the album entitled "The Orientalists, Postcards of the Holy Land, 1880-1935".
